Our day started on the ferry we fell asleep on yesterday. I woke up as the ferry was pulling into the harbor in Palma de Mallorca. Once all was unloaded, the employees of the ferry said we did not need to take the shuttle bus to the terminal because we had our bikes so we were just free to go. We were tired and still recovering from the 107K day before so we agreed that it was going to be a light day today. We hiked into the city to explore a little and get whatever last minute fix ups we needed before beginning our circulation Mallorca. First on our list was a good pot to go with our stove. We bikes to an outdoors store where we easily found a perfect pot to cook our more proper meals. Next on the list, we headed to the nearest “Orange” store (a phone service company) so augie could get another SIM card with more gigabytes. Augue took a while in the store but I enjoyed waiting outside protecting the bikes because I got to observe the bustling street we were on. It was busy with shoppers, bankers, and street performers who made the area feel alive. Once Augie was set, we began a decently short bike to Palmavera of 25K. During our ride, we were going around a roundabout and all of the sudden my back tire started skidding. Fearing that I popped another tire, I pulled over and called for Augie to hold up. Sure enough the tire was popped and I needed to use Augie’s spare. After fixing it, the back tire was still super wobbly so we thought it was best to take it to the nearest repair shop. Sure enough, there was something wrong. One of my spokes broke and was what popped my inner tube. The outer tire was also torn which caused for all the wobbling. A nice man from Argentina worked at the repair shop and helped us out. I ended up replacing pretty much everything on that tire which is fine because my bike insurance will cover it. The town with the bike shop also had a huge beach volleyball tournament going on. We met a lady whos friends were participating and she told us all about it. It was a pretty big deal. Augie and I enjoyed watching some mixed quad volleyball and soon continued to bike to our destination. Do to the overly touristic area of the island we are on and strict rules against illegal camping, Augie and I are posted up in a hostel. We put our bikes away and ran in for a swim in the ocean. The cycling on Mallorca should have smoother roads, but have lots of uphills due to the very mountainous terrain. I feel pretty rested and excited for the cycling that is to come in the second leg of this project!
